Day 21: Love is...

1 Corinthians 13:4-..."Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.  Love never fails."

2013
If everyone loved this way we would live in a would that would be like...well, heaven.  God is Love and Jesus loved this way when He was here on earth.  May we do our very best to love each other in this very manner.

Day 20: Setting Aside

Mark 7:9 "You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions."

One cannot check in and out of having God in their life.  They can't decide which of God's commands he likes and dislikes, which ones he will follow never, seldom, sometimes, or always.  No excuses--no if, ands, or buts about it.  Give God your all or nothing.

2013
Being a carnal Christian (living a luke warm life--half in the world half in Jesus) is much much harder than being a true believer.  In fact it might even be harder than not being a believer at all.  The bad news (or good news rather) is that once you know the truth, there's no going back in your conscience.  Once the Holy Spirit lives in you, the truth will always follow you...even if you become a "non-believer" again.  The world is a tempting place to be in.  Thank heaven it is our temporary home.  We are like sheep among wolves.  But do this one thing: follow ALL of God's commands and you will lead a much happier, peaceful life.  Learning God's commands...this involves picking up your Bible and Learning them ;o)

Day 19: Healer

Mark 5:34 "Daughter, your faith has healed you.  Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."

2010
Put your faith in God and Him alone and He will bring peace in your life.

When I put my faith in God and know that He is the only one that knows what's best for me and is in control of my life, an enormous pressure is lifted from my shoulders.  He will take care of me no matter what, but there will be peace in my life if I put my faith in Him.

Lord help me put all my faith in you so I may be freed from my suffering.

2013
Recently, my daughter has been suffering from some red bumps on her face.  They first started under her eye around Christmas.  The first doctor told us it was an infection and prescribed us an antibiotic.  After her eye was not getting better we decided to see another doctor.  He thought is was just dry skin and gave us some cream.  After the bumps started spreading to other parts of her face and on her back and chest I decided it was time to stop all the medications and start praying for God's healing.  It has only been a week thus far, but her bumps are starting to clear up and she is happy not to be medicated all the time.  Thank you heavenly Father for your incredible healing!

Day 18: Your Best

Numbers 18:29 "You must present as the Lord's portion the BEST and holiest part of everything given to you."

The Lord gave His best to us--His one and only son, who lived as a model for our lives and died on the cross for our sins, so we may have a loving and intimate relationship with our Father.  The least we can give Him is our BEST.  It will never compare to His love for us, but our best is sufficient for Him.  Do it out of love for your God, not out of guilt or the pressures of society.  My utmost for His Highest.  Show God how much you Love Him--more than ANY THING--by giving Him everything you have!

Day 17: House

Mark 3:25 "If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand."

2010
Everyone must be on the same page for things to go right.  If most everyone is working together towards a similar goal, things will go mostly right but sometimes wrong.  If the hands don't do what the brain says they should, the puzzle pieces will not come together.

Do what God tells you to do.  If everyone does what God tells them to do, we will live in Harmony.

God help me to hear you, so I may know your will.  Also help me to go forth with your will and hold my hand while I do your will.

2013
I have to admit these words hold much more meaning for me today.  Now that I actually have a house and a family, I am quickly learning this lesson ;o)  On a broader view, if you think of the U.S. as a house, we also must be on the same page.  I have to admit, I used to not care about politics and our countries future.  But now that I have a "house" or family of my own, our countries future is very important to me.  Right now more than ever, I believe we need to pray that politicians and people in power would hear the word of God and come to know Him.  So that our country may, once again, be a nation of God.

Day 16: Unfailing Love

Psalm 90:14 "Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days."

May all of God's Children wake each day with the peace and joy of His love for them.  If we all did this, we would be good examples for the lost and it would take the suffering from our lives.

I worry too much about the cares of life.  I need to wake every morning with gratitude and joy that God loves me more than anyone and He will take the reigns--just let Him!  Let go and let God ;o)

Day 15: My Light

Psalm 27: 1 "The Lord is my Light and my Salvation--whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the Stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?

Why do we let the complications of life get the best of us?  Why do we fear time, money, weight, what others think of us, etc, etc?  Let the Lord be your Rock.  If you build every aspect of life on Him and the way His very Son modeled a Life for us...then there is nothing to fear.

The cares of this world hold too much power and fear in my life.  Believe in God's plan for me and fear no more.

Lord help me to give it all up to you.  The way it should and is the easiest to be!

Day 14: Open Your Eyes and Ears

Acts 28: 26-27 "You will be ever hearing, but never understanding, you will be ever seeing, but never perceiving.  For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes.  Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them."

Listen and see and you will understand and you will be healed.

Listen and look for God speaking to me.  He will not only reveal truth--shed light in my life--but He will heal me of all unrighteousness.

Oh heavenly Father don't let me become calloused; let me hear and see you always!

2013
Just this morning I heard on the news that the state of Colorado wants to abolish the law that cheating on your spouse is illegal.  Why do we live in such a calloused country?  We live in a free country where we don't get persecuted for reading the Bible and believing in God, and yet we close our eyes and ears and fight against God and the ways He says to live our lives.  As if our fight is really making a difference.  A friend once told me an analogy that I like: God is like a gigantic boulder that Christians and Non-Christians are trying to push back and forth with small toothpicks.  We don't have to fight His fight...although I would like to take a Q-tip to their ears and a magnify glass to their eyes sometimes ;o)

Day 13: My Resorer

Psalm 23: 3 "He restores my soul, He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake."

HE RESTORES MY SOUL--never ever forget this.  Nothing else in this world can do the same.

When I am lost confused, sad, angry, happy, excited, or questioning, CALL OUT to the Lord--He always restores my soul.  Do not turn to other things first.  FIRST go to the Lord--His Word (the Bible), worship songs to Him.  These help put life back into perspective and doing His will.

Lord thank you for always restoring my soul when I call out to You!

2013
This scripture holds an entirely different meaning for me today.  Psalm 23 just happened to by my (by marriage) Great Grandpa Leon's favorite scripture.  We read it to him on the day he went to heaven just over a month ago.  Grandpa Leon was full of wisdom.  An almost 94 year old man, he loved the Lord more than anything and he was the happiest man I have ever met.  Probably because the Lord restored his soul DAILY.  Lord may I live a life like Grandpa Leon did: calling on you DAILY, and being restored DAILY, so I may take those righteous paths you guide me on, ALL for Your Glory! Amen

Day 12: Repent

Day 12: Repent

Acts 26: 20 " I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds."

One can repent over and over again for the same sin.  But if he does not prove his repentance by trying to make better choices--his repentance is not meaningful.

I know the sins that I repent often--pride, gossip, selfishness, independence, and patience to name a few.  I need not only to ask the Lord for His forgiveness for these sins, but I also must do my best to not commit these sins again and again.

2013
It is true.  We are all human and we ALL fall short of the glory of God.  Sin is inevitable in our lives.  No I do not believe one should prove their love and thankfulness for the Lord.  But if you are truly thankful and Love the Lord, you should want to be a better person.

Day 11: Dispute

Day 11: Dispute

Acts 25: 19 "Instead they had some points of dispute with him about a dead man named Jesus."

Why do they never believe?  What will it take for them to stop worshiping idols and start putting their faith in God and His son Jesus Christ?  They talk about Jesus as if he was just a man down the street who made false claims and performed magic.

May I never question the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Have FAITH.  Trust in the Lord and He will bless you!

Father God help me to not be swayed by society or to have doubt in your word.

Day 10: I admit

Day 10: I admit
Numbers 1, 2; Acts 24

Acts 24: 14-15 "However, I admit that I worship the God of our fathers as a follower of the way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that agrees with the Law and that is written in the Prophets, and I have the same hope in God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both righteous and the wicked. So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man."

Paul wants to be honest and true with God and man.  Honesty will set you free!

If I am honest with myself and with God (He already knows my heart anyways ;-) it will be much easier to be honest with man.

Lord give me the courage to be honest with you and with man.  My conscience will then be clear!

Day 9: Stubbord Pride

Day 9: Stubborn Pride
Leviticus 26, 27; Acts 23

Leviticus 26:19 "I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze."

God will continue to break you until you give you all to Him.  He doesn't want us to be prideful and independent.  He wants us to be dependent only on Him.

May I continue to be a living sacrifice for the Lord.  When he breaks me of my pride, it is because I have become too dependent on myself.

Lord may I always listen to you.  If I am dependent only on you, your wake up calls, when I go slightly astray, won't have to involve BREAKING my pride.  Just the same help me to remember I am human and imperfect.

Day 8: Youth sins

Day 8: Youth sins
Leviticus 25; Psalms 25-26; Acts 22

Ps 25:7 "Remember no the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me for you are Good, O Lord."

2010
The Lord does not hold grudges for your mistakes.  If you repent of your sins, ask for His forgiveness, and forgive yourself, you can move on and focus on doing God's will for your life.

I like everyone have a story--a testimony.  No I am not proud of every decision I have ever made in my past, but these are the decisions have made me who I am today.

Lord help me to love myself as you are Good and Love me.  Help me to be happy for the lessons I've learned because they have brought me closer to you.  Help me also not to make the same mistakes twice.

2013
Lord thank you for the person that you have made me.  I didn't come to know you until I was in college and because of that, I was very sinful and rebellious.  I lived a very lonely and sad life until I met you.  Not that I am thrilled with the fact that I feel part of my purpose you have given me is sharing my testimony with youth; frankly the thought scares and embarrasses me.  But I am very passionate sharing my story because I know how lonely a life of sin and rebellion can be.  I want kids to know they don't have to live that life.  They don't have to make those same mistakes.  They can choose a life with God now and save a lot of heartache and pain.  No, a life doing God's will isn't always easier, I imagine especially in junior high and high school it can be very difficult with all the peer pressure and temptations.  But delayed gratification should be one's key focus.  Junior high and high school are a temporary part of life, Jesus is forever.

Day 7: Pure Heart

Day 7: Pure Heart
Leviticus 23, 24; Psalm 24; Acts 21

Ps 24: 4-5 "He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the Lord."

2010
Clean hands = guiltless actions
Pure heart = right attitudes and motives

2013
Live a righteous life and you will be blessed by God.  Don't let the temptations of this world take your focus from what is good and what is right.  Keep your eyes in the light and stay away from darkness.  Light will lead to more light but darkness will lead to more darkness.

I want to keep my hands clean of any wrong actions and my heart pure of any wrong motives and sour attitudes.  Do things as Jesus would.

Lord help me to have clean hands and a pure heart for you--to show you my love and gratitude for all that you have done for me.  Amen

Day 6: My Task

Day 6: My Task
Leviticus 20-22; Acts 20

Acts 20:24 "I consider my life worth nothing to me if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the Gospel of God's grace"

2013
God has given every creature of this earth a purpose.  To go along with that purpose gifts and talents to complete that purpose...to run life's race.  Unless you fulfill God's purpose for your life, something will feel missing.  You are who you are and you have the testimony you have for a reason.  Use your gifts and your testimony to share the Good News with others...so you may show them love.  By loving others you will love God.

Recently Eric and I have been asked to be youth leaders of our church in Wheatland.  Today we are meeting with the pastor to find out more about the position and pray for an answer.  It's funny because not only has God been telling me to start a blog, but He has also been tugging at me to share my testimony with youth.  This could definitely be part of my purpose.

Father God I have felt pretty clear signs from you about leading youth group at our church.  From pastor's message on leaving your comfort zone, feeling the need to share my story with young people, being specifically asked by the church to do so, and reading this very scripture today.  Please Lord if this is your will for my family, let it be known and give us the gifts and talents to run this race worthy of You.  Thank you! Amen

Day 5: Share Guilt

Day 5: Share Guilt
Leviticus 18, 19; Psalm 13; Acts 19

Leviticus 19:17 "Do not hate your brother in your heart.  Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt."

2010
Forgive your brother for his sins against you.  For if you don't, you will resent him and hold the same guilt as he does.  Forgive and you will be set free.

2013
Hatred is a waste of energy.  If someone has wronged you in some way, remember that they are probably hurting in some way.  Instead of "drinking the poison" (of hatred) and expecting it to affect that person, pray for their healing so that they may grow to have a heart of Jesus and stop wronging people.

Day 4: No Fear

Day 4: No Fear
Leviticus 15-16; Acts 18

Act 18:9 "One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision, 'Do not be afraid: keep on speaking, do not be silent.  For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city'."

Do not fear man, fear God.  If you have faith in God he will take care of you always.  Remember, this is our temporary home.

I need to always stand up for what I believe in.  That Jesus Christ is our Savior.  He lived as a model for our lives and died for our sins so that we may have a relationship with our Father in Heaven--our eternal home.

Lord give me the courage to do your will always.

Day 3: Life and Breath...ALOHA!

Day 3: Life and Breath
Leviticus 13, 14; Acts 17

Acts 17: 24-25 "The God who made the world and everything in it, is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.  And He is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else."

2010
Nothing will ever compare to the love of God.  He loves us so much that He's all encompassing.  He's not created by us...we were created by Him.  And the greatest gift we could ever give him is to glorify Him by teaching His children the Gospel--sharing the good news with them.

Lord help me to never limit your greatness to inside the sanctuary--you're EVERYWHERE!  Thank you for that.

2013
I just learned last night that "ALOHA" in Hawaiian actually means HE gives us LIFE, HE gives us BREATH.  Without these we could not worship Him.  But He does give us these...so use them for His glory.  Start worshiping Him now...because it sounds to me like we will be doing a whole lot of it in Heaven ;o)

Day 2: Believe

Day 2: Believe
Leviticus 10-12; Acts 16

Acts 16: 31 "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household."

2010
If you have faith in God--of what was, what is, and what is to come--with ALL your heart, He WILL save you!

I don't have to be a vet, make a million dollars, travel the world, or leave a legacy to be saved.  If I make my ultimate goal to always have faith in God I will be saved.

Heavenly Father help me to keep life simple and always remember that I don't have to save the world to be saved by you, I just have to believe in you with all my might to be saved.

2013
Believe in the Lord Jesus: live a Godly life for you and your family.  Set a good and righteous example so that you and your family who leads by example will be saved.

I would like to wholeheartedly devote my life to God: to loving Him by trying to be more like Jesus everyday--develop virtues that Jesus possessed.  I want to be a good example of Christ for my family so that WE may be saved.

Father help me to be more like you! Open my eyes and ears and heart so that I may see the world as you see it and love others like you would love them.  Save my family and me my Lord. Amen

Day 1: Heart is known

Back in January of 2010 I started reading the Bible.  Still today, three years and four journals later, I have three "readings" left until I will finish the entire Bible.  Starting today, Day 1, these are my responses to the Bible readings I did.  For each reading I picked a scripture that was meaningful to me.  Next I described that scripture in my own words, applied it to my life, and said a prayer.  What do these scriptures say to you?

Day 1: Heart is known
Leviticus 7-9; Acts 15

Acts 15:8 "God, who knows the heart, showed that He accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as He did to us.  He made no distinction between us and them, for He purified their hearts by faith."

God loves all His children: purple, blue, old, young, sinner or saint.  He will purify your heart if you believe and have faith in Him.

Like God I must not distinguish between people.  We're ALL children of God and we ALL deserve the chance to have our hearts cleansed by the Grace of God.

Father God help me to give everyone a chance.  Not to be biased, to stereotype, or to distinguish between people.

Obedience

Have you ever had God tell you what to do?  Wow is He ever patient (a virtue I am still working on).  I have felt for days, weeks, possibly even months that God was telling me to start a blog.  On what exactly...I am not quite sure.  So please bear with me; this is a work in progress.  One thing I do love to do however is write...hence my new purpose.  I have a few things I love to write about: being a Mommy, being Pregnant, being an Animal Lover, being a Wife, and being a Christian.  All of which are very much a part of my life.  So I imagine this blog will entail a little of each.  Let the roller coaster begin...
